Choosing the right seeds for you?

Coastal Mary carries a wide variety of seeds. Choosing the correct Sativa or Indica strain can be a challenge. Growing any strain here is possible, so you’re spoiled for choice. Your main decision will be whether to grow indoors or outdoors. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages to consider.

We recommend autoflowering strains for beginners If you’re not familiar with the term or just need a refresher read our blog here.

Autoflowers take about 12 weeks to go from seed to harvest. The downside to this speed is the lack of yield. Ease of growth is another benefit. They take up little space, grow to around three feet in height and is ideal for a limited space indoor grow.

Which seeds to grow in British Columbia?

You have a lot of choice but personally, we like the Gelato. It’s a sativa dominant autoflower and tastes great. It has 25% THC and packs quite a punch. The sativa qualities will stimulate your creativity and give you a boost of energy. Great for during the day or activities.

Those with experience and want bigger yields with higher THC, feminised seeds are the way to go. Photoperiod plants require more care and flowering time than an autoflower. They have the advantage of more yield, so more effort, bigger results. Vegging phase takes 4-6 weeks and then the flowering phase will take 8-12 weeks.

Indoor or outdoor growing both work in BC. You should aim to have them planted by late April if growing outdoors. Weather here is a little unpredictable and is something you will keep an eye on.

Our favourite in BC would be the mighty Green Crack. This is a feminised sativa dominant plant. It has 22% THC and the sativa qualities will stimulate creativity and give you energy.

The medical benefits of Cannabis?

Medical cannabis is often used for pain management. Cannabis has been shown to help alleviate different types of health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Conditions that cause inflammation, stiffness and can be very painful.

Cannabidiol (CBD) and Delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are found in the flower buds of the female cannabis plant. CBD and THC act on cannabinoid receptors in the body and when these receptors are activated, inflammatory and pain responses may be reduced.

There are several good choices for CBD strains in British Columbia. You should try Harlequin CBD. This is a feminized sativa plant. It has 18% CBD and 1% THC. It’s sativa qualities will also give you an energy burst.
